The practitioners at Hamilton Health & Wellness Centre are ready to provide a specific plan of action to address your health concerns and conditions, and to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. We are pleased to offer the following healthcare modalities:

Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy helps the body remember how to heal itself.  The gentle yet powerful Bowen moves send neurological impulses to the brain resulting in immediate responses of muscle relaxation and pain reduction. Bowen is effective and safe for people of all ages.  A Bowen treatment will last 45 minutes to 1 hour. Most of the work can be done through light clothing. There are pauses between the moves. The purpose of the pauses is to allow your body to respond and make its own adjustments.  Clients may experience pain relief after just one session. Depending on the issues two or three treatments may be enough to achieve long-lasting relief. The session is very relaxing and may help with issues, such as: Headaches / Migraines Sports /accident injuries Digestive problems Knee/feet problems Back/neck/shoulder Arthritis Respiratory issues - Asthma/Hay fever Groin Pain Sciatica

Compassionate Inquiry

Compassionate Inquiry® is a therapeutic method created by Dr. Gabor Maté that uncovers the underlying truths behind our outward appearances. When individuals view the therapeutic relationship as a safe space, compassion and curiosity enable them to confront and explore childhood traumas, recognize internalized beliefs, and process suppressed emotions, all of which aid in the healing journey. Through Compassionate Inquiry, both the client and therapist reveal levels of awareness, mental states, hidden, implicit memories, and bodily sensations that communicate deeper meanings beyond spoken words. By freeing ourselves from the grip of these narratives, we open up to new ways of being, fostering spontaneity, choice, growth, and liberation. “The aim of Compassionate Inquiry is to delve into the core narratives individuals tell themselves—helping them to uncover what stories they unconsciously hold, where those beliefs originated, and guiding them toward the possibility of releasing those narratives or their influence over them.” ~ Dr. Gabor Maté Learn more: www.compassionateinquiry.com

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an effective and scientific system of healing which assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself.  Symptoms of ill health are recognized as expressions of disharmony within the whole person, and that it is the patient who needs treatment, not just the disease.  Homeopathic medicine is gentle and can safely be used by everyone, including pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and animals.

Osteopathic Manual Therapy

Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a form of therapy that emphasizes the relationship between the structure and function of the human body. It follows a belief in the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate, allowing the osteopathic manual practitioner to facilitate health in their patients.  It is a hands-on, manual treatment used to reduce pain, increase physical mobility, and improve the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. As the osteopathic manual practitioner aims to restore the normal function and stability of the patient body to allow it to heal itself, they will use their hands to treat the patient, using a mixture of approaches and techniques. Every treatment will be based on the individual patient and the symptoms they present.  An osteopathic treatment aims to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Osteopathic Manual Therapy acts as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medicine. A first osteopathic appointment will last between 45 minutes to an hour, and will allow the osteopathic manual practitioner  adequate time to listen and ask questions about the patient’s specific situation, their general health, any other medical care they are receiving and then render an individualized treatment.  Follow up treatments will usually last between 15-30 minutes depending on treatment required.

Amygdala Release/Black Pearl

The Amygdalae resemble small black pearls and are found in both temporal lobes of our brains. They are part of our Limbic System. The Limbic System is the area of our nervous system which controls things such as emotion, mood, memories and processing of fear and anxiety. When we suffer trauma or live in a chronic state of stress, our Amygdalae become larger and more connected to the part of our brain that regulates our emotions. This makes it difficult to feel calm and relaxed causing us to remain in a state of fight or flight. Black Pearl Technique, also known as Amygdala Release is a non-invasive neurovascular therapy that can help shrink the Amygdalae and help balance the autonomic nervous system. It involves gentle stimulation of specific acupoints on the head, neck and face to encourage deep relaxation and surrender. This allows the body to enter a parasympathetic state. The meridians are worked on as well, to encourage a more balanced energy flow in our bodies.

Chiropractic Care

One of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Ontario, chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the neuro-musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors practice a manual approach, providing diagnosis, treatment and preventative care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are predicated on the specific needs of the individual patient. After taking a complete history and diagnosing a patient, a chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise and other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling. There are many reasons to seek chiropractic care:   Back pain/Neck pain Headaches Whiplash Strains/sprains Repetitive strain injury (RSI) Work and sports injuries Arthritis General health and well-being,  Limited range of motion in the back, shoulder, neck or limbs Chiropractic care is a regulated health profession, recognized by statute in all Canadian provinces and American states. More than 1.2 million patients in Ontario rely on chiropractic care every year to help them live healthy, active lives.

Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT is a powerful new discovery that combines two well established sciences so you can benefit from both at the same time: Mind Body Medicine and Acupressure.  In essence, EFT is an emotional version of acupressure, wherein we stimulate certain meridian points by tapping on them with our fingertips. This addresses a new cause for emotional issues (unbalanced energy meridians). Properly done, this frequently reduces the therapeutic process from months or years down to hours or minutes. And, since emotional stress can contribute to pain, disease and physical ailments, we often find that EFT provides astonishing physical relief. Once you have learned the basic technique, you can apply it to most situations and use it for life!

Indian Head Massage

A simple yet effective Ayurvedic practice, Indian head massage has been practiced in India for thousands of years. Originally developed by women to promote hair growth and vitality. The modern version has been adapted to also include the neck, shoulders and upper arms as these areas tend to hold physical and emotional stress from modern day lifestyles. Although it is considered a massage, it is very gentle, yet stimulating. Benefits include decreased pain, relief from eye strain and fatigue, improved lymphatic circulation, encourages hair growth and hair vitality, can relieve mental and emotional stress and more.

Relaxing Spa Treatment

Reflexology

By applying pressure to specific points on the feet, reflexology can help to stimulate nerve function, improve energy levels, boost circulation, increase  relaxation and much more. This ancient practice is designed to promote healing and balance throughout the body. This is an excellent treatment for children of all ages, especially those who struggle with constipation or sleep disturbances.

 Registered Social Work

In general, social workers help people to address problems and stressors in their everyday lives. Social workers focus on the person within the wider context of their family, community and culture, and believe that personal problems are connected to larger societal issues. Social workers practice in many settings such as hospitals, doctor’s offices, health centres, schools, government offices, addiction treatment settings, in private practice, and more. Many social workers are trained in psychotherapy, sometimes called counselling or therapy. In Ontario, to use the term ‘social worker,’ all practitioners must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). The college regulates the practice of social work and promotes ethical and professional practice. Our mental health professionals offer counselling to those dealing with anxiety, depression, past trauma, relationship difficulties and grief. With therapeutic interventions we support clients so that they can understand their thoughts and feelings in new and more helpful ways, a process that can lead to healing. Sometimes therapy can be anxiety-provoking; during sessions, we strive to create a comfortable and calm experience for you.

Usui Reiki Japanese energy healing technique aims to promote relaxation and stress reduction, with the intention of supporting the body's natural healing abilities. It helps to balance your energy which in turn calms the mind and body. As a side note, this is a great option for someone who may not like to be touched as it can be performed with hands just hovering within the person's energy field.
